Already a Vet Nurse

Have you completed your Veterinary Nursing qualification?

Are you wanting to invest more time into advancing your career?

The ‘Clinical Thinking Veterinary Nurse’ “Veterinary Nursing Technician Course” is intended for individuals who have completed a formal veterinary nursing qualification and are currently employed as a Veterinary Nurse.

Vet Nurse plus continues its close association with Provet AIRC Pty Ltd (Animal Industries Resource Centre) who pioneered this course. The AIRC have designed this course to encompass all aspects of general practice veterinary nursing and by encouraging nurses to increase their skills and knowledge we believe the standard of veterinary nursing care will increase and benefit veterinary practices, the client, the pet and the veterinary nursing profession as a whole.

The duration of the course is twelve months combining distance education and on job training. The format involves the completion of key activities required within the veterinary practice and focuses on advanced patient care in medical and surgical nursing, critical care and emergency, staff coordination and training and other core aspects of veterinary nursing.

Students are required to have a veterinary mentor from their place of employment, who will oversee their practical activities. Assessment of the course is through portfolios, case study assessments and an end of year exam.

Please contact us for an application form, a practice equipment audit form and an agreement of support from your clinic and mentor to be completed and returned to us with your application. Please do not be too concerned if you do not have all the equipment mentioned in the audit in your clinic, the audit is a tool to enable us to appropriately align your training with your current facilities.

The information pack will also contain information regarding the course cost and the support text books you will require.

The intakes for the course start on a roll over basis as per arrival of applications and will start approximately one month following the application arrival (this allows accounts to be processed, texts ordered and course notes to be sent prior to the start of the course.)
